Yesterday we gave you a behind-the-scenes look into the Modern Traditional Shoot with a webisode! We took over the brand new space of White Oak Homes to style our new arrivals in a few different ways. See us create a modern traditional living room with a lived-in feeling, and how we style a console and a desk two different ways. Shop new arrivals!
The overall concept for this photo shoot was to create a very lived-in feel, so we drew the color palette inspiration from the rug. It has a dark, neutral color palette enhanced with a little bit of olive, and touches of brown and taupe. The best part is the terracotta accent! The rug just sets the tone for the entire space.
Our Warner Leather Sofa is another great focal point in the space. It has this dark blue leather that really stands out. It has this beautiful curve shape at the arms that just calls for a beautiful pillow arrangement.
The sofa pairs beautifully with this great marble and antique brass coffee table that is so heavy and substantial. Our favorite part about it is the unexpected (and functional!) design element, the added drawers.
Most of the pieces in this room have soft, traditional lines. We had to include something to throw things off a little bit! We did that here with the modern Imogen Chair. It has this great metal leg with angular details, but the light color fits in with everything nicely.
Grounding an open corner often requires a big side table. The Sonnet Side Table has graceful legs and a beautiful round top. A large side table allows for a large table lamp! The Simone Lamp is bold, with a wheel-thrown base and a creamy neutral palette. This side table would look amazing in an entryway too!
The first look is really all about this dark piece of artwork. It ties in with the sofa and gives the space a coastal look.
We love loft spaces, so much that Shea is planning on having one in her new home. So we were excited to style a working area here. Our first look is feminine and casual. We even incorporated the owner’s easel!
This desk is extremely versatile! It’s also very unique. The build is reminiscent of an old sawhorse workbench in a beautiful wood tone. It pairs really well with a lot of different styles of desk chairs.
This look is more feminine so we chose a chair with a light barrel back cane and the most beautiful brass detail on the arm. We used a the Hargett Bridge Arm Floor Lamp floor lamp next to the desk because it frees up more space on the desk and adds an extra layer.
Keeping with the feminine, airy vibe, we used a light rug. It brings elegance with its ivory color palette. Subtle wefts of blues and grays add a hint of color, and we just think it’s so beautiful.
Our second look is a little bit more streamlined. It’s rustic, with a color palette that’s completely neutral. We started with this metal chair and paired it with a black and white photo for a modern look.
A simple gray rug was the obvious choice here. It ties in with the photography, and the dark color makes it resistant to stains! On the bright side, if it does stain you can easily rinse it because it’s an indoor/outdoor rug!
During these cold months, indoor/outdoor rugs are a necessity. As family members track snow, rain, and dirt in and out of the home, you can easily rinse them off with a hose! They’re ideal in high-traffic areas.
