Today is the photo reveal for our Mid-Century Modern Project. We stretched ourselves with a style that you don't typically see from us and we love the result!
It's not just the style that's a little different than what we normally do - this project is a spec renovation. We worked with Northstar Builders in Salt Lake to stage the home and prepare to sell. Northstar purchased the home through the original owner's daughter with the promise that they would renovate rather than tear down. We staged main rooms and kept with the mid-century look, but with our signature eclectic style.
The great room opens up to the kitchen, dining room, and entry. We used a really great low profile modern sectional and a round coffee table because it fits nicely within the opening of the sectional. This space has our signature layered look, but it's paired down for a more masculine effect. The side table is a designer trade item.
We aimed to make the space feel "midcentury modern" without trying too hard. I think too often people make a midcentury room look like it's wearing a costume! Only peg legs and typical silhouettes make it feel more trendy than designed.
The subtle sheen and warm tones in the dining room rug make the modern look feel more cozy.
These gold lamps have a tall shade and deep gold finish that make a big statement - the perfect glamorous balance to the graphic artwork.
