Farmhouse Kitchen Nook

Design projects seem to come in waves...we won't have anything to reveal for months and then they ALL finish up at once! That seems to be the case recently, and I am loving that we finally get to share some of what we've been working on!

This kitchen nook happens to be in the cutest custom built farmhouse you've ever seen. The exterior is incredible and the interior is really great as well, but it just needs some updating. This is a project where we will be moving from one room to the next starting with the kitchen nook. The banquette seating was definitely the right idea, but it was time to swap out the plate ledge and vinyl for something fresher...while still keeping with the farmhouse aesthetic.

Here is the before in all of its red floral glory:

Just in case you think that these before/after reveals are magic, they most certainly are not!  It takes months from the time we meet, present, edit, get bids, demo, wait for backordered items and install. Good design takes time! Even for a small space. Here is a progress shot:

We redesigned the bench seating to be all wood (for both wipe-ability and looks) and opened the space by adding shiplap to the ceiling. We finished the nook with one of my favorite lanterns and a mix of cute navy/white pillows...I've never met a buffalo check or stripe I didn't like. Here is the result...totally worth the wait!
