Remember the office space I posted about last week? Well, it is a small piece of a large project I started at the end of last year. My client moved into a home with a great floorplan, but it was brown, brown, and more brown. I’ll be showing the befores/afters of this house all week long, but today, I’m going to start with the dining room. Oh how I love this room. The goal was formal, but comfortable and inviting.
Our first task was changing carpet and paint. We went with Benjamin Moore’s Balboa Mist on the walls – it is a light grey color that provides a nice neutral palette for all the rooms. We also sprayed the existing cabinetry and fireplaces white to lighten everything up a bit.
The jumping off point was the artwork. It is such a statement! From there, we juxtaposed the reclaimed wood farm table with white lacquer chairs and dupioni silk drapes with greek key trim – just enough luxury and drama. Finally, the brass Oly Studio chandelier is the jewelry of the room. A perfect high/low mix with the West Elm rug.
