A timeless home inspired by the English countryside, layered with pattern, character, and thoughtful details designed for modern family living.
Every project begins with a vision, but this one began with a feeling. Our clients described their dream home simply: they wanted it to feel like "grandma's house." That sentiment became the foundation for Stoneford Cottage—an English country-inspired home layered with collected antiques, expressive patterns, nostalgic details, and warm materials that feel as though they've always belonged. Designed as their forever home, every decision was made with the understanding that this is where the family's three young children will grow alongside the spaces that surround them.
Stoneford Cottage doesn't rely on a single defining moment. Instead, it reveals itself layer by layer. Reclaimed antique European flooring introduces centuries of history the moment you step inside, while paneled walls, vintage artwork, expressive wallpapers, and richly textured fabrics create rooms that invite a second look. Pattern became the thread that ties the home together, from a floral sofa that anchors the living room to playful combinations of woven textures, ruffles, marble, brass, and iron. It's a reminder that when every layer shares the same point of view, pattern doesn't compete—it creates character.
The kitchen captures the balance that defines Stoneford Cottage: timeless character paired with thoughtful function. At the center of the room, a handcrafted Lacanche range serves as both a hardworking centerpiece and an architectural focal point. Known for its French heritage and exceptional craftsmanship, the range brings an unmistakable sense of permanence to the space—one that feels as though it has always belonged.
Every surrounding detail was chosen to complement its presence, from the furniture-inspired island and unlacquered brass accents to Aria Stone Gallery’s Calacatta Gold Borghini marble, with flowing gold and coffee-toned veining that brings warmth, movement, and natural character to the space.
Throughout the home, Calacatta Lincoln SoundStone marble introduces a soft matte finish and understated elegance, its honed surface and subtle veining adding quiet texture to bathrooms and other thoughtfully layered spaces. Together, these natural marbles reinforce the home's enduring material palette, bringing depth, character, and timeless beauty throughout.
As you move through the home, every room offers its own interpretation of comfort. The dining room is wrapped in a richly patterned blue wallpaper that transforms it into an intimate jewel box for gathering. A color-drenched office layers deep blue walls with plaid drapery and warm rust velvet, while the primary suite embraces rich paint, floral textiles, houndstooth, paisley, and antique accents to create a retreat that feels less light and airy and more enveloping—a room designed to "wrap you in a hug," as Shea describes it. Even the children's spaces continue the story, each one thoughtfully tailored to its occupant while remaining connected to the home's overall character.
Stoneford Cottage is ultimately a celebration of designing with longevity in mind. It's proof that timeless homes aren't created by following trends, but by layering meaningful materials, embracing craftsmanship, and trusting that a home filled with character will only grow more beautiful over time.
