Oxford Road: Episode 5
This week, the team is racing toward the finish line—installing the final layers while hosting video and photo crews at once. Even a house this size feels full, with people moving in and out of every room against the clock to capture the visuals for press.
And press is only part of the pressure. This home is a Parade of Homes house, which means that within days it won't belong to the crew or the cameras—it will open to the public. Thousands of visitors will walk these floors, study every corner, and take in the details up close. So nothing can be almost done. The gallery walls have to be hung, the shelves styled, the beds layered, the last light fixtures wired and glowing. Every room has to read as finished, not in progress—and all of it has to happen at the same time.
But the deadline that matters most is the family. From the start, the McGowans made a rare choice: not to see a single space until the home was finished. While the crews document and the team readies the house for the public, the moment everyone is really working toward is quieter—the one where the family walks through the door and sees it all for the first time.
So as the last pieces fall into place, the mood on set shifts. The pace is relentless, the energy is high, and after months of work, more than a few of us are getting sentimental. Three deadlines, one house, and a reveal that's finally almost here.
