Decorating with Spring Branches

We can't wish away winter, but we can try to make spring come a little faster in the home. Nothing gets us out of our winter blues like seeing fresh spring branches!  They're structural, laid-back, last longer than flowers, and fun to use in styling. When you can forage for budding branches in your own yard, you can pick them up at a floral shop. We recently installed a home and picked up a couple spring branches at our local floral wholesaler.

How to Arrange Spring Branches

From Real Simple

To start, use a strong cutter (like a looper) that trims thick stems. To keep your branches vibrant and alive they'll need a good amount of water. Keep your plants hydrated by cutting an X at the bottom of the branch to help the water absorb into the stem.  We'll take our favorite wide vases and fill them with halfway with water. Adjust and snip the strands as you like, but avoid snipping off too much to keep things looking fresh and natural!
