Escape to the Oregon Coast

Several months ago, we decided to meet up with a few couples and their kids for the 4th of July weekend. We all stayed in a cute shingled house in Lincoln City, OR. It surpassed all expectations! It was in the most charming little neighborhood with steps down to the beach and the cooler temps were just the escape we needed from the Utah heat. The sun was shining the entire trip and we ate, played, napped and bonfire-d our little hearts out.

The house we rented...I mean, come on! It was made for the 4th of July:

Did I mention that my birthday is July 5? We headed back to Portland that evening for a backyard birthday celebration in our friends' dreamy backyard:

We had the morning in Portland before we headed home and I had to sneak in some shopping. I had a long list of stores to visit, but what we could squeeze into a couple hours definitely did not disappoint! So many great shops and so much great food to be had!!!

Manor Fine Wares was right across the street from Salt & Straw (which totally lived up to the hype) and was filled to the brim with perfectly curated pieces. Plus, it smelled like heaven:

Up next was every home decor fanatic's favorite stop, Schoolhouse Electric. My iPhone pictures don't do it justice - it is in a large industrial warehouse and every single corner is well-styled. The store makes you feel like a happy camper - which is exactly how a Portland shop should feel!

We also went to Alder & Co which had fresh flowers and stacks of beautiful linens.

We packed a lot into a little weekend and had an absolute blast. We are all exhausted which is why I am currently blogging from my bed this morning! Hope you all had a great weekend!

Also, I don't want to forget to mention some of the great food we had on the coast and in PDX:
