Form meets function in the family room

Before and afters are the most fun, right?! In this project, we started with an empty brown space that was in desperate need of some life and livability. Family rooms and kitchen nooks often require more function than form, but in this case I think we managed to meet both! Here is the before:

We brightened it up by painting everything from the ceiling, walls and trim, to the fireplace, built-in and kitchen cabinets. We created a base layer through neutral upholstery which was all custom-made with kid-friendly fabrics. From there, we added life through mixy-matchy pillows, artwork and and shiny gold accents (my favorite). The result is a perfect blend of comfort and sophistication.
